I hate to break it to you, but Bernie will be 79 in 2020.

Best to find someone to pass the torch on to.

Yeah he’ll be way too old... Trump is actually the oldest president to take office (fuck does that feel terrible writing that lol)

I’d still like to have a woman be US President, but it can’t be Hillary. Who could do it?

Elizabeth Warren. IIRC she was considered for Hilary’s VP and I can’t imagine her, or anyone really, being worse. Except Trump of course, but IMO he’s only equally as bad.

There are few. Elizabeth Warren is the only true contender, but she’s pretty much s liberal as Bernie, so she wouldn’t stand a chance. In 2020, the focus shouldn’t be on gender, but of quality. Maybe we can get a pair of candidates that aren’t a crook who is a terrible persom and a non-politician who is a shitty person.

I’m still holding out hope that it won’t be that bad. People have certainly been wrong in the past. Obama never took away our guns or converted us to a Kenyan, Islamic, socialist state, for example.

So I guess we should prototype a president? How does one even prototype a president?

There’s no way she would win, though. She’s far too left to stand a real chance with moderates. I’m betting we’ll see a few familiar faces in 2020, like O’Malley and Cuomo (Hillary needs to admit defeat and not run, her reputation is too tarnished to win at this point).

As awful as it sounds, the Democrats proyally need a PoC, at least as a VP, to get the landslide-inducing minority vote. Unless Trump is terrible, then they can run anyone with a pulse, but I doubt he will be as bad as everyone thinks. In fact, I think he will accomplish very little good or bad, and this whole thing is blown way out of proportion.

Just figure out what qualities the candidate needs to get votes. In America, you have to be pretty moderate to win, which is why I approve of Bernie’s movement, but think he’d be terrible as a real candidate. The candidate also needs to not be super corrupt or be investigated for crimes during their campaign. So someone who has only been in DC a little while (say, 10-15 years, topps) would be best.

After Hillary’s campaign, I don’t think male or female actually matters that much anymore. It’s mostly down to not being super corrupt or breaking a lot of rules and ending up in court. Without the emails, and with a better canpaign, Hillary would’ve easily won. As many have said, Trump didn’t really win, Hillary just lost.

Did she retire? Honestly I haven’t heard about her since Bush. But I’ll admit I’m not the most informed citizen.

I wish more people agreed with you on your second paragraph. Even with a Republican Congress I’ll bet money the wall and mass deportation never happens.

I am excited about his “drain the swamp” campaign against lobbyist. Altough as far as I know some of that would need to go through Congress, and that’d be a huge if, but it could do some actual good.

Plus we avoided war with Russia Huzzah!

Except Obama never said he was going to do that. Unlike all the stupid and equally terrifying things Emperor Trump said he wants to do.

I’m not blaming myself either. Sun, nice weather, good food and places that look great opposed to NY winter and a city full of Trump real estate? If only I could convince my girlfriend to come and my company that Spain is a worthy market.

Yes, but not to the the same extent. And moving to another country, taking on the challenge of being part of the effort to get a foothold in a new market, will improve my general mindset. It would put US politics and the orange sith, in a small corner of my mind. And the third reason? I’m falling in love with Spain. Málaga in particular, has a very alluring charm.

He’s a the POTUS, not an autocratic leader. He can’t do everything he was saying he would do. Even executive orders can be nullified by Congress if they are overreaching. And the Senate is only 1 member Republican majority, so it only takes 1 moderate to give the Democrats a majority.

Nobody said otherwise. Even with the ability to be blocked, he can still do damage just with his big mouth and shitty appointees (he has a few already), and it isn’t the same as the bullshit chanted by deplorables about Obama.

It won’t be as bad as the reactionary rioting whiners claim, but it won’t be as good as the swindled MAGA set claims, either. Life will go on, but this is not a revolution. There will be no draining of the swamp, no reborn economy. There will likely be some kind of economic uptick (at least short term, as I am sure you know, recession is already overdue), but 95% of the gains will go to 2% of the people, just as before. I am thinking Bush era idiocy redux. IMO, some people are going to feel pretty betrayed at the 2020 election, and it could be a fatal bloodbath for the GOP in 2024, if they survive that long. Of course, only the Dems can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, it will be interesting. It’ll be up to them to finally field a palatable candidate.
